This shoot was a ton of fun. We went from the cold fogged-in Moonstone Beach in Cambria to the vineyards in hot Paso Robles. I am excited for their wedding in Los Osos, Ca in just a few weeks. It will be great to be back in the San Luis Obispo area where I grew up.
Well this will be one of our final posts on this blog and we will have information posted about our new blog. I am stoked to share that info with you. Enjoy the goodness that is Steve and Robin!

Tyrone & Elise - Wedding |Sacramento, Ca|

I had so much fun with Tyrone and Elise! As the night was winding down Tyrone and Elise commented that they didn't want to end our, "relationship", now that the wedding was almost over. I let them know that if they ever wanted to hang out I was game & I would bring my camera ;) Elise and the rest of the bridesmaids got ready at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Downtown Sacramento. Megan Moon the owner of Bellara Salon & Spa came to the hotel and did Elise's hair & makeup. Then we jetted off to Wilson Vineyards for their ceremony and reception. All the flowers were amazing, with 9 bridesmaids & 9 groomsmen, there were plenty of flowers! The florist was Ambience Floral Design. The catering was also fantastic and was by All Seasons for All Reasons Fine Catering. Nick Javier of It's Time Entertainment kept the party going! I am sure this group could have partied for a few days!

Tyrone and Elise, thank you for having me as your photographer, I had a great time. The two of you are AWESOME especially when I can photograph you in the buttery goodness of sunset light ;) Have fun in Hawaii! Also, if you want to see their engagement session you can go here.

I am so excited for Brian and Jackie. Their wedding is this October at the Arden Hills Resort & Spa. They were a ton of fun and easy going. We hit so many locations downtown that I lost track! I love doing these engagement sessions because I get to learn so much more about my clients and it makes the shoot go by so fast. I guess time always goes by fast when you're having a blast. Father's Day

Father's Day was the BEST! I woke up to the smell of freshly baked bread and brewing coffee! Thanks Ella :) She makes the best Lemon Loaf ;) We made lunches and headed out to Ancil Hoffman Park out in Carmichael just East of Sacramento. This is one of the better parks we've been to. There is access to the river, you can ride your horse if you have one.... play a round of golf and so much more! It was so relaxing to be able to relax and enjoy my fantastic wife and my adorable daughter.
Even though I called my Dad on fathers day I want to thank him for all the skills he has given me. Thanks Dad for all the awesome things you've taught and instilled in me! I hope all the dad's out there had a great day with their families too.

Watt Said What?

Last night I went out at about 10pm and the lightning was going off all around our house in Plumas Lake. As I was leaving the neighborhood a weather alert was being broadcast on KFBK 1530 and it included my area. The lightning was striking right above me. It was probably the freakiest thing ever!

I have always wanted to shoot lightning but never had a good chance. With close to 2000 strikes last night I had tons of opportunity! I stayed out until 2am, I would have stayed out longer but when the static electricity caused what little hair I have on my head to stand at attention, I knew it was time to call it quits. When I crawled into bed around 3:30am the sky was still going off like it was the 4th of July!

Last night we had a crazy awesome sunset and then all heck broke loose in the sky!!! I have never heard an actual weather warning on the radio until a few hours ago!! I have some great shots I can't wait to show you! This one below should do for now.

We have been so busy and I have a few weddings to post and some recent family pics too. This was fun tonight, I don't usually get a chance to do none work shoots. Have a great rest of the week!

Christine and I had a great time shooting this awesome intimate wedding in the Armstrong Redwoods near Guerneville, CA. Jonathan works with my wife so this was an extra special wedding for us. It was a little wet but it made it even more special. Jonathan and Suzie were a ton of fun and I loved that Jonathan had his camera and was taking pictures too. Thanks for having us we wish you both the very best life has to offer, congratulations!

Being a photographer is sooooooo much fun!! This engagement photo session has led us to a new style of sessions we will be offering. They are Flash Photo Sessions and we will be posting the details to these sessions soon. Back to Travis & Angie, I met them up at The California Academy of Sciences for what we are now calling our Flash Photo Sessions. They found me through twitter when I offered this shoot in San Francisco. We almost didn't get into the Japanese Tea Garden but after begging the Rangers to let us in we only had a couple of minutes but it was worth it!! Ella's New Ride

Ella got herself a new ride and it is sweet! We took advantage of our REI membership + Coupon + Dividend and scored this great new stroller/bike trailer. Ella doesn't usually like to be in any stroller but this one she loves! The best part is we can attach it to my bike in less than 30 seconds and we can go cruising the bike trails along the Sacramento River, good healthy times. This also means I can start running a little more while she naps... (we added extra padding and got her a bike helmet, pics of that coming soon) I am stoked Spring is here; time to get out and enjoy this beautiful area. Next week we will have some shots of Ella sporting her new ride in Yosemite Valley! Stay Tuned...

Mark & Denise - South Lake Tahoe, Ca

Yesterday we went up to Rubicon Bay in the South Lake Tahoe region and had a great photo session with Mark and Denise. They rocked it!! It was if we had the entire lake to ourselves. On Monday I had the great pleasure to capture a rare event, an arrival of a groom who hadn't seen his soon-to-be bride for four months! Sean is in the Navy and is currently stationed in Japan. I know it has been a very long time since I have posted anything related to Ella so I thought I better get on it. Ella has been so much fun lately and she has been a champ when it comes to the 6 hour drive down to San Luis. On our way home we needed a break from the drive so we stopped at the "famous" Casa de Fruta (if you want to know where this is just click here). We rode the train around the "resort" and enjoyed our break. I can't wait to do this when Ella is older and can enjoy this to it's fullest.

Thanksgiving is such a great day! We have so much to be thankful for that it would be straight up gratuitous to list everything. But I will say that I am eternally thankful for my amazingly supportive wife and adorable daughter. Life is FANTASTIC!! Back to our day of relaxing....

It started with playing some cards and then a refreshing morning walk with Ella's Great Grandma Cavaliere, scroll down for more of the days events.

Here are some tarantula pics I took in Cayucos, Ca where these beautiful specimens are left over from when they filmed Arachnophobia (1990) in Cambria just a few miles up HWY 1. I lived just a few miles from here and never knew they existed in this area. Watch where you step!

Busy Week - Sneak Peek

It has been a crazy week! Last Saturday I was in SLO County with my ladies for a friend's wedding. Then Christine, Ella and I had a fun family shoot with the Kienows. Relaxing for the weekend was over and it was back to Sac! Wednesday was a fun shoot near Chico, I was at an organic rice farm. Friday was an E-Session with Kenny and Ally back in SLO County. Saturday was Kenny and Ally's wedding. Here's a sneak peak of the past week that took over 1,200 miles of driving to capture.

Alright ladies a few more hours and I will be on the road again to see you soon. (Aren't they Cute?!?)

A Long Walk

A little while back Christine and I took a long walk with Ella. We walked out behind our development and wound up walking nearly 5 miles! There was a field of sunflowers that were mostly dried up, but there were a few hanging on. It was a beautiful day and as you can see Ella slept through it all.

As many of you know... my wife has crazy mad skillz!!! She is soooooooooooo talented. In many ways she makes everything look easy. Well she and I have made the decision to bring her in as my "second shooter". She is already my business partner and key adviser and it makes perfect sense to be photographers together for life! I am so excited to be making this leap of faith with her as we embark on this new life journey.

A little while back we had the great pleasure of having my wife's grandmother Cavaliere come over for dinner. We had a great time together and it is always fun to have four generations under one roof.

Sam's First B-Day

While we were in San Luis Obispo country we were able to spend some time with Christine's brother Dan, his wife Mary and their son Sam who is now 1 yr old. We were all celebrating Sam turning the old age of 1!! So all the clans came together for the party in the park. The Cavalieres, Essers, Ekdahls, and of course the Robertsons. It was great family fun and you can't beat Sam's little wranglers. Just wait, in a few years you will see this fiery young man at a Merle Haggard concert holding his Weinhard's Root Beer!

Ella's 1st Adventure (Warning MEGA Post!)

Back in the first week of September we took a drive down to good ole' SLO so we could introduce Ella to my parents. We knew Ella didn't like the car but we didn't know how much until this journey began. The drive is old hat for Christine and me but our rookie hasn't caught on. Our regular 5 and a half hour drive turned into 10+ on the way down and 14+ on the way home. Lucky for us we took two days each way to make the trek. But oh was it worth it! Below you will see the family and I will do my best to point everyone out.

Four Generations. Ella was born into a line of tough broads. Don't step out of line cause even little Ella has got "The Look".

This isn't what it looks like... It's a Henry Weinhard's Root Beer!! Christine is just hanging out with her dad.

While in SLO we went to our home church, Trinity Presbyterian, and had Ella christened. Here Ella is wearing a christening cap that was hand made by her great-great grandmother. We think our little Quaker look-a-like is pretty cute!

After the service Ella was ready for a nap so Chris put her in the cool moby wrap which puts Ella right to sleep.

While on our trip our trusty Honda Accord crossed over the quarter million mark on the odometer!

We even made it out to one of our favorite places - Montaña de Oro for a hike at dusk.

Our trip home got off to a slow start when Ella decided she wanted to stop and check out San Ardo, Ca. I love this pic of Christine. She is using her swooshing technique to help calm Ella down. This is just the first part of our recipe for calming Ella down to start on our next leg of the trip.

Add in a dash of a bouncing walk never hurts

A quick change of the diaper.

A sprinkle of wind plus a little more walking to taste.

Add them all together with a little patience and you end with a happy baby back at home.

I had such a great time shooting this couple and their fantastic dogs who were even in the ceremony! Never a dull moment... It was perfect Shell Beach weather and a perfect day.

A few weeks ago I got the great opportunity to help a friend second shoot a wedding. But it wasn't just any friend, it was THE Mike Larson, who has been my inspiration on starting my photography business. Thanks Mike for all of your help and encouragement. Now for the shoot. We were in Carmel-By-The-Sea, CA shooting an awesome wedding for an awesome couple. Thanks again Mike for having me along.

Bringing Home Baby Ella

Ella Olivia Hope Robertson's World Debut

WARNING - PROUD PARENTS POSTING TO FOLLOW

First things first, STATS:
7 lbs 6 ozs, 19.5 inches long, also, she currently has deep dark blue eyes, long light brown hair, born at 2:21 am Saturday, August 2, 2008 [at this current time 22 hrs old!!!]

Our goal was to have a natural child birth. Chris labored for 23 hours, 20 of which were back-to-back contractions that didn't allow her any time to rest. After all of that hard work, Chris' progress was still slow and it became clear that we didn't have the endurance to keep going. At hour 20, we decided it was time for some pain relief.

Chris had such great focus while laboring before going to the hospital.

We had a slight scare with meconium in the womb which the doctors were worried she had inhaled. Thank God, after four hours in the intensive care unit she was released to be with us in our room. She is doing so well and there are no issues what so ever!!

The next four images are of the great nurses basically beating fluid out of our precious little girl's lungs. They did a great job cause she was able to come back to us quickly.

Here is the first look of "Help me dad!" as the nurses pounded on her back.

Mom and baby reunited... and it feels so good...

These next few images are me watching over my baby girl as she was escorted to intensive care for four hours of observation. We had a great time as you can tell. It was dark so there are some nice aesthetically grainy images ;)

So I am pretty sure the birthing plan said no halter-tops but come on... how cute is this?!?

So tired now, she is yawning for Chris and I too.

Mi Esposa Es Muy Hermosa!

My wife is so beautiful!! We are just days from our baby girl, Ella, coming into the world! We went for a long walk the other night to hopefully get things moving along. Even though it didn’t seem to trigger any progress, at least we got to enjoy a beautiful sunset! Once Ella gets here, we’ll be sure to let everyone know!!! (If my Spanish is incorrect, lo siento! I am only done with my first semester! More on that later.....)

Art & Tina - Capturing the Signs of Love

Art and Tina were a blast to photograph. Not only did it give me another chance to work with the great Ken Kienow, but I was able to observe some amazing "signs" of love. See, the groom, Art, is deaf, as were all of his groomsmen. And as someone whose job it is to capture the outward expressions of a couple's relationship, I found this a uniquely moving wedding. Although, the day was not without its challenges. With my own wife at home 9 months pregnant, I turned this into a one-day-400-mile-coffee-binge road trip. All in a days work!

Best to listen to Mom when she says its time to pose for pictures!

Brandy and Matt E-session

Brandy and Matt were a ton of tail-wagging beach fun!!! When we first talked about doing a session, they mentioned they wanted to include their dog. But I had no idea that they meant DOGSSSSS.... I had a great time rolling around on the beach getting all sandy and soaked. Check out the fun we had chilln' at the beach (it got pretty cold near the end...)

The black dog is Kayak, the white dog is Forest, Little chihuahua girl Raina and finally the little chihuahua boy is called Graham. They love the beach!!!

Christy & Trent = Wedded Awesomeness

As you can see in the first picture, I was at the Jack House in SLO second shooting for a fantastic, talented photographer Ken Kienow. You can check out Ken's pictures from the wedding here. We had a blast shooting this awesome couple. They were so awesome that they actually had coverage of the wedding from a helicopter!! (Thanks SLO PD!!)

The groomsmen had some time to kill before the wedding so they headed down to McCarthy's to relax a little. Trent was lavished with a little blue ribon from some well-wishers. mmmm tasty!

I also adore capturing the embrace of a couple, it is as if no one is around and they are all alone in the moment.

Mariah

Mariah was so much fun to shoot and get to know. She came prepared for everything! I would like to label her a quick change specialist... We did two locations and 7 outfit changes in two hours. These first images were at McKinley Park in East Sac. We had a blast and I think the proof is in the pudd... sorry images. :)

This starts our time at Discovery Park where just across the river is East Sac. To get proper images I was did what any respecting photographer would do, roll up the jeans and jump in the water!

I wish I had Mariah take a picture of me when we were done, I was a wreck.

Baby Ella

Here it is... my first post. This has been a long time coming but no better time than the present. I thought I would start off on a good foot and show everyone my beautiful daughter Ella. I have yet to hold her but she has my heart. We went to Pregnancy Journey in Natomas, Ca to have a 3D/4D prenatal ultrasound. I can't tell you how awesome it is to see her move around in the womb!

Christine and I can not wait to hold our little girl. Ella is due at the end of July. Come August there will be many more Ella posts.
